Camera

Shopping for your first camera can feel overwhelming. Here are three things that will help you take that first step into the world of photography.

Buy Local

If you have a local photography store, this should be your first stop. There, you should be able to not only just look at but try out any camera that you may be interested in. Additionally, you will be able to ask any and all questions that you may have. As a beginner, this is extremely important.  Buying from a local store is also helpful should any issues arise with your new equipment. Some stores will even give you discounts on accessories such as cases when buying a new camera.

If you do not have a local store that sells cameras, Amazon has some of the best prices and carries just about every camera made today. They also offer extended warranties on most cameras for that extra piece of mind.

Buy For The Future

When deciding on a new camera, try to not just think about what you are interested in photographing now, but also down the road a bit. Today you might be interested in photographing all those pretty flowers in your garden. However, maybe you also enjoy going to auto races. Someday you might want to bring your camera along to take some photos. You will want to make sure that the camera and lens you buy is able to take photos of those fast moving cars as well as the flowers in the garden. Buy the camera you will grow into, not out of. Take a Lesson

As a beginner, it is a good idea to take a few lessons to help you get acquainted with your new camera.  Most cities have some sort of “Intro To Photography” classes aimed at new photographers.  If you were able to buy your equipment at a local shop, they will often have classes available, or know of some in your area. If for some reason you cannot find a local photography course, here is a good start to help locate one online.
