Things You Need To Know Before You Pick Up Drone Photography as a Hobby

Drone photography is becoming one of the most popular hobbies in the world.  More and more people are picking it up and for good reason.  It is fun to fly a drone around and everyone likes cool photographs.  However, if you are looking to get into it, you should know some things first.

Learn the Law

Before you even think about buying a drone, you need to learn the laws that apply to them.  Each state has its own approach to how it regulates drones, and FAA has its own set of rules as well.  Learn them word for word.  The last thing you want to do is to get into a legal battle with someone or the government just because you wanted to take some photographs.

Figure out what equipment you need to buy.  You will definitely need a drone and a transmitter, which controls the drone.  Now the photography equipment will vary depending on your taste.  What kind of photos are you going to take?  How much control do you want over how your photos turn out?  Most drones do come with a camera, but not a professional one.  If you want to buy a good camera, you may also have to get a monitor, something that will allow you to establish a live feed between your camera and monitor, and something to attach your camera to your drone.

Learn how your drone works and how to fly it before you start taking photographs.  Flying a drone is not as easy as it looks.  Take your drone out for a few test flights and get a feeling on how it behaves.  Get use to the controls so that you can fly your drone properly.  Figure out how long you can fly your drone before you have to recharge it.  Once you master that, then you can practice your drone photography skills.
